Why My Constituent Should Give Me A Second Mandate - Awolaja
The Chairman House Committee on Community Development and Cooperatives who doubles as the Deputy Minority Leader in the Ogun State House of Assembly has emphasized on the need for the people to give him the privilege of serving them for the second term in office. Hon. Awolaja Dickson Kolawole, representing the good people of Remo North State constituency in the hallow chambers, stated this during an interview in Abeokuta, that, he would continue to bring his campaign promises to reality before the electorates. Excerpts.
Q: You made several promises to the electorates during your electioneering campaign how far have you been able to bring this promise to reality?
A: In every situation or circumstances we find ourselves, we must continue to appreciate God, representing the people of Remo North State constituency is not by my making but by the grace of God and with the support of my people.
Having said, that the Nigerian Constitution specified the constitutional responsibilities of a lawmaker which is to make law and also lobby for development project to constituency and this we have continue to toe the path of greatness with available resources in our disposal.
In the area of legislation, I have continued to work hand in hand with my colleagues on the floor of the house towards amending the existing laws and presenting new bills.
In no small measure I have been able to attract state government presence to my domain, more importantly in the area of road construction, citing Ilisan Akaka road among others.
I have also renovated several blocks of classrooms in public schools, provided free GCE, JAMB forms and paid tuition fees of the children of the less privileged. Other amenities provided also included; functional boreholes in all wards in my constituency, rehabilitation of abattoir, repair of open market stalls, repair of transformer in a bid to ensure the availability of power supply for the people.
Others innovations included the establishment of industries in my constituency. I am working with some functional industries in my domain as this will not only reduce the level of poverty among the people but provided employment opportunities for the teeming youths in the area.
On this note, it is imperative for the people to support my second mandate so that Remo North will firmly be positioned on the world map.
